Terms of use

MyCS is the online portal of Christ Church Cathedral School (“CCCS”, “the school”, “we”) in Victoria, British Columbia, for our learners, their families and our staff. By signing in, you agree to these terms. If a learner is using MyCS, their parent or guardian agrees on their behalf and helps them follow these terms.

1. Who can use MyCS

Only people the school has given an account: current learners, their parents and guardians, and school staff. There is no public sign-up. Your access ends when you leave the school community, or earlier if the school decides it should.

2. Your account

• Your account is for you alone. Don’t share your password, passcode or two-step codes, or let others use your account.
• Staff and administrators must use two-step verification.
• Learners sign in with a student number and a passcode from the school.
• Sign out when you’re done on a shared or public device.
• If you think someone else has used your account, call the school office on 250-383-5125 straight away.

3. Using MyCS well

MyCS is part of school, so the school’s code of conduct applies here too. Please don’t:

• post anything unkind, threatening, hateful, or inappropriate for a school;
• share photos, video or recordings of other people without their permission;
• try to see information that isn’t meant for you, or get around MyCS’s security;
• upload anything harmful, or anything you don’t have the right to share;
• use MyCS to advertise or for anything unrelated to school.

4. What you post

Work, posts, photos and files you add stay yours (or your child’s). By adding them, you let the school store and show them inside MyCS to the people who are meant to see them, for learning and school life. Learner posts may be reviewed by a teacher before classmates or families see them. Photos and videos of learners are only shared as far as that learner’s media consent allows. Teachers and the office may remove anything that breaks these terms.

5. Safety and records

To keep learners safe, important actions in MyCS are recorded in a secure log, and school staff can review activity when there is a safety concern. Anyone can raise a worry through Report a concern, which goes to the school’s safeguarding staff. How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy policy.

6. Suspending access

The school may suspend or remove an account if these terms are broken, to protect someone’s safety or privacy, or when a person leaves the school.

7. Availability

We work to keep MyCS running and secure, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance. MyCS is provided as it is, without guarantees. Keep your own copy of anything important. To the extent the law allows, the school isn’t responsible for losses caused by MyCS being unavailable or by information being lost.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and we’ll tell you about important changes in MyCS. Using MyCS after a change means you accept the new terms.

9. The law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and of Canada that apply there.
